Industrial Lighting
Industrial lighting takes many forms. What is adequate for storage
areas is not sufficient for assembly work, loading bay lighting
needs to facilitate safe working and the correct interpretation
of paperwork such as dockets etc., whilst lighting for Cabinet makers
needs to enable their detailed and precise work as well as giving
good colour rendition.
As with all artificial lighting, usefulness and cost effective
running costs are major components in deciding what form the lighting
is to take. In a Joinery shop for example, there is little benefit
in lighting a timber store to the same degree as an area where drawings
are required to be read (see Technical).
Whatever form the lighting takes, keeping the scheme well maintained
is of long-term benefit. A lamps output will deteriorate over time
due to ageing and the accumulation of dirt. Regular cleaning of
the fittings will prolong their output whilst the wholesale changing
of their lamps before their average failure rate will be more cost
effective than a regime of replace on failure.

Phillips
or a similar quality lamp.
SMALL WORKS
As a business develops over time, its Power, Lighting and Data
requirements also develop, resulting in the limitations of the original
installation becoming apparent.
Rearranging the work area requires alterations or additions to
the existing Power and Lighting layouts, new plant needs additional
Power supplies whilst the rise of IT requires the linking of Computer
terminals.
